Structura Institute offers a variety of courses for practitioners at different levels of education and experience. For those just beginning their bodywork education we offer the Structural Integration and Massage Therapy Program, with a focus in rehab therapies that correct structural dysfunction and alleviate chronic pain.
We have been preparing students to be highly competent and compassionate professionals for over 20 years. We take pride in bringing together the most advanced educational philosophies and the most current research together to create an effective and supportive learning environment. Preparing our students to successfully pass the Massage national licensure examination and the International Structural Integration Board Certification.
Structura Institute is recognized by the International Association of Structural Integrators (IASI) and our Structural Integration and Massage program and continuing education programs are compliant with IASI’s current educational standards.
IASIStructura Institute is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education provider.
NCBTMBBe successful from student to professional. Structura Institute works with ABMP to bring students liability coverage, tools and resources needed to thrive— whether you’re a brand-new student, a student about to graduate and take the MBLEx, a new professional taking the first steps in your career, or a seasoned professional. Structura and ABMP are there from start to finish and beyond schooling.
ABMPThis is a complete program for students just starting their bodywork education. The program provides extensive Structural Integration training while also teaching the essential massage therapy foundations needed to become a successful bodywork professional. Graduates satisfy the education requirements for licensure by the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) under the Massage Therapy Practice Act and are eligible to sit for the Certification Exam in Structural Integration and become Board Certified in Structural Integration.
Students are trained in the essentials of massage therapy, including body mechanics, quality of touch, the five basic strokes of Swedish massage, proper draping techniques, client-interviewing skills, contraindications, and therapeutic boundaries. Students learn how to give a high-quality full-body massage. Professional standards, ethics, and business practices are also covered, and students become certified in First Aid and CPR.
After learning the foundational elements of bodywork, students begin their Structural Integration training. The early phase of this training includes trigger point theory and structural bodywork, mobility therapy, and Functional Movement Techniques (FMT) certification. Then students learn myokinetic therapy -learn manual corrective techniques to work through targeted specific areas of chronic pain in preparation for receiving Structural Integration or to use as a maintenance program.
Upon completion of their myokinetic therapy training, students begin training in the classic ten-session series of Structural Integration based on the teachings of Ida P. Rolf. This series works to lengthen and open patterns in the fascia surrounding the muscles causing tissue that has thickened and shortened to become soft and pliable. This gives muscles space to work and joints freedom to function, allowing the body to move freely with increased flexibility and range of motion.rogram.
In the last phase of their Structural Integration education, students learn the 13-session series of Structura RED-Integration, a modern approach to Structural Integration developed by Structura Institute founder Jason Prince to address dysfunctions in the body that are caused by contemporary lifestyles. In this series, all elements of the student’s training, including Structural Integration bodywork, Functional Movement Techniques, and mobility therapy are brought together. Students learn how to tailor these methods to meet the individual needs of their clients and generate the best results for each.
Throughout the program students will also receive extensive education in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and pathology. This allows students to gain a thorough understanding of the structure and function of the body, learn the concepts of biomechanics that are necessary to understand the complex interactions of muscles, and learn about the disease process and common clinical manifestations of disease.
In order to graduate, students must have a passing grade in every course, complete all required clinic hours, and meet the minimum term and cumulative attendance requirements forthe program in which they are enrolled.
Kinesiology is the study of the mechanics of body movements. This course covers the concepts of biomechanics which are necessary to understand the complex interactions of muscles. The structure and function of the human body is learned in these courses through study and discussion of the musculoskeletal system and the other major body systems.
Prerequisite: A&P I/II
A thorough understanding of the structure and function of the human body is essential to effective bodywork and structural integration methods. The anatomy and physiology of the human body is taught in this course series through study and discussion of all the major body systems, with an emphasis on the musculoskeletal system.
Prerequisite: A&K I/II before taking A&P III/IV
This course presents the art and science of assessing human movement and structure. Students learn how to apply hands-on techniques, with a focus on manipulating the connective tissues to support proper structure and function of the body. These techniques create structural and functional changes.
Prerequisite: None
Important preventative safety measures in a bodywork setting are taught in this course, as well as training and certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Prerequisite: None
This course communicates the known mechanical and neurological mechanisms of action as well as new research on enhancing fascial gliding capacity and optimal fibroblastic activity. The sense of human touch is amazing. The somatic or somatosensory system involves integration of touch and other stimuli to the skin with the nervous system. Learning the importance of manual therapy outcomes have every bit as much to do with neurosensory alteration as mechanical tissue changes.
Prerequisite: None
Students work on clients from the general public in a clinical setting, practicing their acquired bodywork skills, gaining stamina and learning valuable customer service and time-management strategies as well. These skills are essential for professional success in the field of massage and bodywork.
Prerequisite: Term I Bodywork Courses
This course is based on basic massage techniques adopting a client-centered approach developing the art of bodywork. Students are taught the fundamental theories and techniques of massage therapy. Students develop an understanding and respect for therapeutic touch and serving others in a humanistic way.
Prerequisite: None
This course focuses on position, mechanics, mobility, and motor control to help optimize performance and prevent injury. These concepts are ideal for therapists and clients to maintain muscle flexibility and mobility in-between visits after receiving a bodywork session as well as continuing a strong self-care plan that can continually be used and improved upon.
Prerequisite: None
Manual Corrective Techniques (MCT) are performed to focus on balancing the muscle and fascial systems of the body to improve range of motion, posture, and support pain free living. The systematic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body focuses on targeted specific issues using a variety of muscle release techniques and movements that center on integrating and relaxing areas of chronic tension. Students will work to bring the body back into balance and restore range of motion.
Prerequisite: Term I Bodywork Courses
These courses introduce students to an essentially Western medical model of disease. The focus is on the disease process and how it applies to the various body systems with an emphasis on common clinical manifestations of disease.
Prerequisite: A&P I/II/III/IV and A&K I/II
The Professional Standards course emphasizes the practices, ethics, and behaviors that are necessary to be successful in the massage and bodywork industries. These required standards of competency, knowledge, and education will be demonstrated throughout all courses of the program, as well as adhering to industry codes of conduct and ethical standards. Students will learn to better understand the laws and rules governing these industries. We will be discussing state occupational licensing, certifications and industry board exams, and continuing education.
Personal growth is a key aspect to becoming a successful professional and dedication to this path of continuous daily improvement will need to be embraced.

These courses are designed to prepare students for the professional job market. Through this course, students learn customer service, promptness, efficient use of time, and perform back-to-back 80-minute Structural Integration Sessions. These skills help ensure graduate success in the bodywork industry. Students have the opportunity to practice acquired skills and gain valuable experience by working on clients from the general public in a clinical setting. Students will take 2 clients through the entire Structural Integration 10-Series.
